James S. Helf was born in Cleveland, OH. He received his Bachelor of Science in General Business Administration from the University of Arizona in 1994 and his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University in 1999. Mr. Helf was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1999 and to the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, and the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida, in 2003.
Mr. Helf focuses his practice on various areas of commercial and business litigation related to real property, landlord/tenant issues, and HOA and condominium associations, emphasizing construction litigation. He has previously represented owners, developers, design professionals, subcontractors, and suppliers in all aspects of construction law, including bidding, contract preparation and negotiation, bond issues, licensing issues, lien issues, claim avoidance, claim resolution, mediation, arbitration, and litigation. Mr. Helf has extensive experience with jury and bench trials and administrative hearings.
Mr. Helf is active in the Broward Bar Association construction law section and has lectured on various litigation topics.
